Forgiveness

Let’s take a little break from all the chicken chatter, shall we?!  :)

I feel like I’ve learned (and am continuing to learn) about the very familiar, yet easily forsaken discipline of forgiveness lately.  Scott and I have had a few encounters this summer where we’ve had to seek forgiveness from others, and we’ve also had to give forgiveness to someone who wronged us.  And let me just tell you: if you ever want to give yourself a good dose of humiliation, just ask someone to forgive you for a specific way you’ve sinned against them.  Oh, my.

But, you know what the beauty of forgiveness is?  It’s the gospel in real life.  Those who are in Christ know how much they have been forgiven.  They know what they deserve.  And they know the endless mercy and deep, incomprehensible love that is lavished on sinners from a holy God.  Those who are in Christ can forgive others and keep no record of how they’ve been wronged because of the grace they know has been granted to them.

If you need to forgive someone or need to be forgiven by someone, think on the gospel.  It will humble you to the core.

:) I wish we could have coffee dates together!

Oh, and this whole forgiveness thing... man it has been something I have finally started to grasp- the humility, and the freedom that come with it. I so wish that I would have taken this discipline more seriously my whole life.
