If you’re a fan of Darby’s blog, you’ve probably already seen that there’s a fun project going on to help Alabama’s foster kids. Foster care/adoption is becoming more and more dear to my heart, so I couldn’t resist a blurb of my own. BigHouse, “a Christ-centered non-profit organization designed to meet the needs of children in foster care,” is hosting a statewide swimsuit and towel drive. Get this: they are trying to provide each of Alabama’s 6,000 foster children with his or her very own brand new swimsuit and monogrammed towel!
You can find out what size swimsuits are needed most on BigHouse’s website. Drop off locations are also posted on the website, or if you’re in my neck of the woods, you can bring your items to me! I’m working on getting 2 big boxes to put under our carport by this afternoon.
Probably for most of us working on tight budgets, this will mean less “stuff” in our child’s Easter basket. But what a great way to teach them about giving sacrificially and putting others before ourselves!
I was just at Target the other night and spotted several {cute!} swimsuits for around $7.00. It doesn’t have to be anything fancy; probably just having something new and personalized will be WAY special for these kids!
Hope you’ll consider this small way of caring for our orphans!

Hey Em! I do want to help! I saw this on Darby's blog a bit back and didn't connect the thought of your new venture! Will be in touch with a contribution. Love you and your sweet heart!
i'm so glad you posted this, i saw it on another blog but had forgotten about it! my mommy brain kicked in. I have posted the flyer and link for big house on my facebook too, so that hopefully it will get some more folks involed. I can't wait to go pick up a swimsuit and beach towel this weekend!
This sounds like an amazing organization! One I know that is near and dear to your heart.
