A few weeks ago, Scott and I decided it would be real fun for our family to share in the glory of finding out if Baby #2 is a boy or girl. It was a great excuse to have a party. A baby-dudley-gender-reveal-kind-of-party!
We told Renee, our sweet ultrasound tech, not to tell us what she saw on the monitor this morning. We brought her a piece of paper and an envelope, and asked her to write “boy” or “girl” on it and seal it up! Afterwards, we sped to our favorite bakery, Liger’s, to take them the golden envelope. You would’ve thought we held the 2012 Presidential results in that little envelope. Because I had already called last week to ask permission, they promised to have a cake ready by 5:00---a cake that would reveal pink or blue by the inside icing.
Everyone gathered at our house, ate a bowl of soup, and waited for the cake-cutting ceremony. All 23 in attendance proudly wore their prediction. Scott and I knew what we’d wear from the first day we saw the + sign on the pregnancy test.
We barely let everyone finish their soup before announcing we were ready to cut the cake.
Friends, to say we’re SHOCKED would be a vast understatement. We’re having us a GIRL, folks! A little girl!
(Donations are welcomed. We take Visa, Mastercard, Cash, or Check. Thank you.)
Really, we are so thrilled! I’m excited to see our babies grow up together, Lord-willing. I pray they will be great friends, always encouraging each other and learning from each other. What a precious gift from God.
Her name will be Anne Scott, after her daddy. I can’t think of a better namesake for her. I hope she grows up to be as gentle, gracious, and kind as he is.
Okay, I better run. Anyone know where I can learn how to smock? ;)
