Staples!

I love the word staples, as in staples in one’s home.  While running a few errands yesterday, I realized that we are staples kind of family.  We keep the same items. on hand. ALL the time.  Our staples!

Staple 1: 3x5 index cards

DSC_0166 It’s a sad day when my beloved index cards run out.  Every day at least two of these 3x5 cards find their way into my hands.  To do lists, reminders, “I love you” notes, etc.  They’re perfect!  Not too big, not too small.

Staple 2: Coffee Creamer

DSC_0168I once tried to drink my coffee black for a whole week, just to see if I could knock out the extra calories that creamer adds to my life.  I quickly realized I’m not adult-ish enough for that.  One day when we have arthritis and grandchildrens and dentures, we will drink our coffee black.  For now, I like mine white.

Staple 3: Clorox wipes

Clorox wipes!  Best thing since sliced bread.  Love ‘em for toilet seats.

Staple 4: Smell good candles

DSC_0173I’m a sucker for a good-smelling candle.  The one above was a splurge; a $5.00 off coupon to Bed, Bath, and Beyond helped seal the deal.  Good thing Yankee Candles last for.EV.er.  If you’re a clean laundry smell kind of person, you’ll like “Clean Cotton.”  It’ll make ya want to go wash something.

Staple 5: Starch

DSC_0171I was not a starch user until Scott received a Columbia button-down shirt for his birthday last year.  Holy wrinkles.  Faultless was discovered shortly after, and I don’t think I’ve ironed that lovely shirt a garment without it since.

Yoo-hoos

DSC_0174About a year after our marriage, Scott confided in me his love for Yoo-hoos.  I had no idea he was a Yoo-hoo drinker!  Until I started buying them for the husband, I had forgotten how GOOD they are.  They remind me of swimming lessons at the Y.

Sour Patch Kids

DSC_0180These little kids have been a lifesaver for the past six weeks.  Unlike my maternal journey with Bun #1, I’ve had the first trimester blues with Bun #2.  I may or may not have asked my husband recently if he’d still be attracted to me if I stuck my finger down my throat to throw up.  Anyway, I wonder why sour tasting/lemony stuff taste so good when nauseated?  These little babies have been good to my taste buds!

What are your household staples?

Seeing other people's staples is so fun! So sorry you've still been icky. I think the summer heat magnifies the nausea X 20.

Our staples:
Bananas
Bud Light
mechanical pencils
legal pads
cheddar cheese
marinara sauce

For sure we will always have: Coffee, creamer, MILK, diet coke (or diet dr. pepper)--and my new pregnancy treat--Dove chocolate, and I keep it in the freezer...YUM!

I get my Yankee candles at TJ Maxx. They are usually 9.99 for the big ones!

"I like mine white" cracked me up. I take mine that way, too.
