A List…

1. Don’t you love a good ol’ list?  Blogs are so fun when they involve a random list of thoughts, don’t you think?

2. I realized this week that I’ve had the same cell phone since my junior year of college.  That’s a long time, you guys.  Like six years.  She’s been dropped, stepped on, lost, flung, and wetted.  Come to think of it, she’s been to the other side of the world, too.  I should blog about that some time.  Making phone calls from the Middle East is a bad idea.  Anyway, I hope to not have to buy a new cell phone anytime soon (see #3).

3.  The Montgomery Water Works and Sewer Board sent us a kind letter stating that we had an underground sewer problem that needed to be handled in the next ten days.  I’m no plumber, but something told me this wasn’t going to involve just a trip to Lowe’s.  Hello, $$$.  Come to find out, we did indeed have a sewer leakage, and the mysterious hole leading to our underground sewage line in our front yard was from….are you ready for this?….RATS.  Yep.  Apparently, the little boogers detected a leak and started digging a hole in our yard to get to it.  I’m pretty sure I gasped when the plumber told us the news.  “Rats?  In our front yard?  You’ve GOT to be kidding, right?”  The cha-ching sounds blaring in my head quickly came to a halt, as I gladly wrote the plumber a check and asked if he could be here with his backhoe first thing in the morning.

4.  So, Scott and I got a wild hair this past weekend and rented seasons one and two of 24.  Our bedtime has been way violated ever since.  Jack Bauer is like McGuiver x 1000.  (Do you remember McGuiver?)  We just finished season one, and I can’t decide if I’m going to torment myself and watch season two.  My nerves may not be able to take it, and I think Scott is getting tired of going to the bathroom with me.

5.  Publix, I still love you even though you went and moved everything around on me.

6.  This past week was the first time I’ve had to buy diapers for Sam.  That’s right.  Sam is seven months old, and we are just now having to buy him diapers.  Some family and friends gave us a diaper shower before Sam was born, and our Sunday School class gave us another diaper shower after he was born.  Inside every cabinet, under every bed, and at the top of every closet in our house has stored boxes of diapers until this week.  We are ridiculously blessed.

7.  I have been reading a little about church history this week, particularly the history of Southern Baptists.  It’s very, very interesting, and I was pleasantly surprised at what I found.  Did you know the forefathers of the Southern Baptist movement were Calvinists?  Oh, yes.  Yes they were.  Maybe a whole blog post should be dedicated to this subject.  We’ll see.

8.  Sam has two teeth that are about one-fourth of the way uprooted.  I’m sure it’s my imagination, but ever since they sprouted, Sam looks at my food more intently.

9.  Have I mentioned Sam is no where even near trying to crawl?  I am so very okay with this.  In fact, I’m trying to slow down and  savor these last few months of Stationary Sam.  There’s something so “big boy” about crawling that kinda makes me sad.  Weird, right?

10.  That’s it for now.  Happy weekend! :)

I don't know what cell company you use, but with ours we can upgrade every year or so and there are always phones that are free when you extend your contract. I haven't 'paid' for a phone in a long time.
I guess the rats were thirsty.
I miss those days of being able to just put Sarah in one place and she would stay there. Rest up, once they start moving it never stops.
